Investment Analyst

Currently managing over CHF 4bn of capital on behalf of institutional investment vehicles, EIP is growing rapidly and looking for new talent to support with expanding its focus to global investment activities.

Your area of responsibility

As Investment Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the team throughout the investment lifecycle, starting from sourcing and execution of transactions to post-closing value creation and asset management tasks all the way to potential opportunistic sell-downs. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following key responsibilities:

  • Support the sourcing and execution of transactions, which includes:
      • Performing independent research on specific markets and investment opportunities including the derivation of possible investment strategies
      • Preparation and maintenance of financial modeling and analysis, company and asset valuations
      • Coordination of sub-streams in the acquisition process, particularly due diligence work streams such as technical, commercial, regulatory, legal, ESG, insurance, financial, tax and structuring
      • Independent delivery of inputs to investment memoranda as a basis for investment decisions of the investment committee
  • Support asset managers in measuring and creating shareholder value in existing portfolio investments, which includes:
      • Analyzing adequate company KPIs to monitor asset developments against investment thesis
      • Maintaining and improving valuation models to track investment performance including coordinating various stakeholders such as valuation agent
      • Support in the decision-making on company events by providing qualitative and quantitative analysis and following-up on legal agreements. Key events include, for instance, changes in capital structure (distribution policy, refinancing), business strategy, revenue commercialization, ESG, governance or regulatory developments
      • Writing and further developing periodic reports on the managed investments in companies for the attention of the investors and Investment Committees
  • Support marketing activities, especially regarding fundraising, jointly with the Client Solutions team. This includes the preparation of presentations for existing and prospective clients as well as processing client requests
  • Support new team- as well as company-wide initiatives to help further grow and streamline the business

Your skills and experience

  • Excellent academic background with a degree from a top-tier university or business school
  • First relevant experiences working in top-tier companies in any of the following sectors: energy/utilities, M&A/private equity and consulting/advisory
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance and accounting as well as experience with financial modelling
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and conceptual thinking
  • Ability to quickly familiarize oneself with complex topics and take self-driven ownership
  • Independent, proactive and entrepreneurial attitude with a positive, can-do approach
  • Fluency in English is a must and (Swiss-) German is preferred; other languages are an advantage

Inhouse Legal Counsel

Your area of responsibility

  • Act as sole legal business partner for EIP and holistic responsibility for all legal matters of EIP
  • Advise on various legal matters and governance framework of a regulated entity (FINMA, CSSF etc.)
  • Review of legal agreements (e.g. Investment Management Agreements, Offering Memorandums or Side Letters) and support in negotiations with counterparties
  • Support with driving the business forward by e.g., establishing distribution agreements or new fund structures
  • Involvement in energy infrastructure investment transactions and ongoing investment/asset management in collaboration with external law firms
  • Management and monitoring of external legal counsels
  • Support in ad-hoc clarifications, new products and new business initiatives

Your skills and experience

  • Proven law degree
  • Minimum six years of relevant experience in legal departments of an asset manager or in law firms with an asset management focus; experiences with an illiquid asset class are a plus
  • Profound knowledge of Swiss and EU-regulations (e.g. FIDLEG, FINIG, AIFMD, SFDR) and the current developments concerning the asset management industry
  • Structured, proactive, detail-oriented personality with an ability to work with tight deadlines that drives matters forward to resolution
  • Fluency in English and (Swiss) German; French is an advantage

Risk & Investment Compliance Officer

Your area of responsibility

  • Review and analyze energy infrastructure transactions from a holistic risk management perspective as well as identify, articulate and resolve risk and control issues
  • Review and analyze energy infrastructure transactions from a compliance perspective including AML, KYC, PEP assessments
  • Enforce and ensure risk and compliance standards outlined in the company’s ICS
  • Analyze and further develop the risk management framework
  • Follow a forward-looking approach screening the Swiss and European market for regulatory developments that might affect EIP
  • Ensure close collaboration with legal and regulatory compliance
  • Deputy function for Head Risk Management and AMLO

Your skills and experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field of alternative investments either gained in portfolio management or risk management, experience with energy and/or infrastructure assets will be considered a plus
  • Proven know-how of relevant investment structures and regulations
  • Degree in Business, Finance or Mathematics
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Very good communication capabilities

Senior Institutional Sales (DA)CH

Your area of responsibility

You will be responsible for steering business development and sales activities within the segment of large and sophisticated institutional clients in German-speaking Switzerland, Germany and Austria. You will cover pension funds, insurance companies, single family offices and global financial institutions.

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities resulting in new net sales flows
  • Maintain and deepen existing client relationships, prepare and lead client portfolio reviews and act as “center of competence” / “product specialist” for product-related client inquiries by ensuring in-depth knowledge about EIP’s products, investment approach and investment view
  • Initiate and coordinate local marketing activities (mailings, client events, seminars)
  • Strengthen local consultant relations and contribute to global consultant coordination processes
  • Lead the coordination of RFP’s, final presentations and client onboarding, including the setup of segregated accounts, transition management, etc. on the performance of the firm’s portfolios and assets
  • Assist more senior Client Solutions professionals in developing the company’s client marketing and sales strategy as well as the product development strategy
  • Prepare marketing materials associated with fundraising; and ensure competitive and consistent positioning of the product offering
  • Collect and analyze market data and work closely with EIP’s portfolio managers. Analyze the regulatory environment, client and consultant feedback and general developments in client allocations and product selection
  • Manage mid- and/or junior-level Client Solutions professionals to support skill development

Your skills and experience

  • At least 10-15 years of business development/sales experience in the asset management industry, with a proven track record in selling private markets/infrastructure investments to institutional clients
  • Exceptionally strong business development and sales skills, paired with investment knowledge as well as entrepreneurial enthusiasm
  • Able to build and maintain trustworthy, credible, sophisticated and long-term oriented partnerships with clients
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and a structured sales approach
  • Established relationship network and existing up-to-date contacts to key pension funds, insurers, and consultants within the top segments of the DACH institutional market
  • Self-motivated and passionate character with entrepreneurial mindset and team spirit
  • Ability to work towards tight deadlines in a very dynamic environment
  • University degree in finance and/or economics and/or equivalent advanced training (CFA, CIIA or CAIA, or progress towards obtaining them)
  • (Swiss) German and English fluent language skills are a must, additional languages are a plus
  • Experience in leading and managing a team is a plus
